Brief
David needed a bathroom cabinet as the final crowning detail in his newly renovated Stockholm flat. Only solid wood were to be used, and it needed to look good from all angles, even when sitting in the bathtub.
Insight
The installation of the current sink and plumbing created some challenges, with very small tolerances. Everything had to be very precise in order to enable full functionality and serviceability of the sink.
Solution
A bathroom cabinet made out of solid elm (except for some brass screws). The elm was a perfect choice, because of its water resistant features, being next to the bathtub.
The sliding drawer was constructed by creating multiple box joints. This provides strength, and also gives room for the plumbing. The bottom of the drawer is free floating to accommodate to the swelling due to moisture in the bathroom.
